Please read the information below regarding a product recall from Zurich
As part of our commitment to support customers with risk insight information we would like to share details of the Whirlpool tumble dryer product recall.
It’s estimated by the Government that the fault with these tumble dryers has caused up to 750 fires in the last 11 years.
Zurich is supporting the product recall guidance that covers tumble dryers manufactured under the Whirlpool brands of Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline that was made between 2004 and 2015. If any of your tenants are concerned that they own such a dryer they should: · Go to the Whirlpool page and check the model of tumble dryer · Call 0800 151 0905 to check whether the tumble dryer needs to be replaced · Follow this safety checklist which also includes a link to all the affected makes and models · If your tumble dryer is affected, unplug the machine and contact Whirlpool on 0800 151 0905 to arrange a free replacement
We would be grateful for your support and promotion of this product recall with your tenants.
There is a high risk of an event (Fire) with tumble dryers as:
A) They are designed to produce heat, B) They collect dust and clothing fibres,
Tumble dryers, along with other kinds of electrical white goods (eg: fridges, freezers and washing machines) must never be placed or used in an area that would be used by people to exit the building in case of an emergency.
